Team Swine

On Thursday morning on October 8th Edge 09 went voyager canoeing. It was a very crisp morning, and we had to be at the school by 7:45 a.m. By the time my small group left it was about 8. 20! . Once we finally got to Fort Langley, we got split up into groups. I was in Cheryl's group she was so fun and was an awsome paddler, she was also very incuraging to my group which made the trip even better. We called ourselfs team swine hahah! Anyways we were pretty successful in keeping in a straight line and trying not to get any water in our boat. Once everyone was in their canoes and ready to go, a native man which i cant remember his name came and expressed his culture with a breif summary and a song which i found pretty cool. we slowly all drifted awayfrom the dock, then everyone got started. Since our leader was from the Langley canoe club we had to stay behind unfortunatly which really sucked at times, but eventually we all met up but the Fort-to-Fort trail and saw some erosion. After that we started paddling our way to the lunch spot, and again we could not get our boat stuck in the sand, it took us a very long time just to get out the boat... but once we got out lunchs everyone was very satisfied:). When everyone was done lunch a man involved with the fisheries aka Quadzilla came and talked to us about the salmon. If you were there you would know why we would call him that...hahahahah, after the inspiring talk we got back to the river. We were one of the last groups to leave but by the time we were going going a good pase we seemed to the meet point where everyone was. We had a pretty good start unlike Steads team who cheated.... but eventually we caught up. The race was neck and neck with our team and steads, but unfortunatly we got 2nd. When we got back to the dock I helped bring some of the canoes to where they were supose to be. Wow those things were heavy! After we were unpacked, we headed back to the school and got to go home:). It was a very interesting trip... I would definitely not do it again because it was probably one of the hardest things ive done.
